It’s widely known that most messaging apps offer their full features without requiring premium subscriptions. However, Telegram, a popular messaging platform, appears to be bucking the trend. Recent rumors suggest that new services and features may become exclusive to paying subscribers.
Based on a report from Android Police, citing Telegram’s beta channel, new information has been discovered embedded in the upcoming beta version of the Telegram app. This information suggests that new features will require premium subscriptions.
As you are aware, we have all grown accustomed to using free chat and messaging apps. This is true not only for Telegram but also for other messaging apps like Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. However, when we look at business-focused messaging platforms like Slack, we notice that they provide numerous paid benefits. However, basic features are completely free.
We don’t know if the premium features that will be available in Telegram in the future are worth paying for. However, the majority of users should not be concerned about this. The most basic features that most people rely on cannot be converted into paid features.
What will Telegram offer in return for premium subscriptions?
Telegram has not yet officially announced any of the new features that will be available in exchange for subscriptions. However, based on the opinions of some users who have received the beta version 8.7.2, it appears that there are new reaction emojis, which they cannot use unless they join the premium subscription program.
While using the Telegram app, and when calling up the reaction panel, you will see a new star icon on the right side. Once you click on it, a new pop-up window will appear containing six new reactions. These include clown face, fire, vomiting face, shocked face, thumbs down, and heart.
At the bottom of this pop-up page, you will see a new notice that says “Unlock additional reactions by subscribing to Telegram Premium.” You will also see a blue subscribe and purchase button below.
Whether Telegram’s premium features justify its cost remains unclear. In today’s digital market, many services offer little value despite their premium price tags. Consumers should always prioritize getting the most bang for their buck, avoiding unnecessary or low-value subscriptions that drain their hard-earned money.
