Google Maps has a feature called Timeline that allows you to see all the places you’ve been. It also tracks the distances you’ve traveled, whether on foot or by car. In 2015, Google significantly updated Timeline, making it clearer and more accurate. Additionally, users could now add photos taken at specific locations, creating a more comprehensive visual record of their travels.
This feature is essential because it allows you to see your weekly or monthly activities. In this article, we will show you how to see all the places you’ve visited over the past weeks or months.

But what if you want to disable this feature, meaning that you prevent Google from tracking you to all the places you visit? If you want to stop Google from tracking you, open the Google Maps app, tap on your profile picture, tap on the third feature, Your Timeline, and from the map, tap on the small location icon, then tap on the word On.
Now, it will allow you to choose the Google account that you want to disable the location tracking on. Select your account normally, and you will be immediately taken to the Activity Controls page.
From the middle of the page, you can disable the Location History feature. A page will appear with some instructions. Scroll down the screen and tap on Pause.
The Timeline feature is great in the Google Maps app because it gives you a comprehensive overview of all the places you’ve visited while on the go. But if you’re concerned about Google’s constant tracking of you, you can disable it easily as we explained through the previous explanation.
