How to protect your Google activity history with a password

Google offers a variety of tools to help us protect and secure our accounts, including My Google Activity. This tool allows you to track your online activity across Google products, which can be used for personalized ad targeting. Therefore, in this article, we will provide you with everything you need to know about how to protect your Google activity history.

How to protect your Google activity history

  • First, sign in to your Google account on your computer. Using any web browser, go to the My Google Activity portal page.
  • Now you’re in the main window. Click on the three horizontal bars next to the My Google Activity logo. A drop-down list will appear; select the ‘Activity Control’ option.
  • On the same screen, locate the “Manage Activity” option roughly halfway down the list of settings.
  • Now from the new window, click on the “Manage My Activity Verifications” option.
  • In the pop-up window, click the circle next to ‘Require Extra Verification’ to add an extra layer of protection to your Google Activity history.
  • Click on “Save” and Google will ask you to enter your Google account’s secret password. Enter the password and click Next.
  • Now, your Google activity history is secured by a password. This means anyone trying to see it through the control panel will be stopped by a password prompt.

Through “My Google Activity” tracks a lot of data about you, and naturally, you want it to stay private. To protect both your data and your privacy, locking your Google browsing history with a password is crucial. Doing so ensures no one else can see your history, the sites you visit, or anything else you wouldn’t want them to know.
