How to Export Your Gmail Emails and Data

In today’s age, email is crucial for various work-related tasks. This can lead to the need to store some emails for safekeeping. If you ever need to download important emails to your computer, Gmail, the most popular work email service, offers a straightforward method for doing so.  This report will guide you through the process.

How to download your emails from Gmail:

The first step in downloading emails is to go to your Gmail account **http://mail.google.com/**  and sign in with your Google account. Once you have opened your email, you must select the email or message you wish to download by opening the email window. Remember to open the email rather than selecting it from the outside.

Now that you’ve opened the email you want to download, click the three horizontal dots icon in the top right corner. Be aware that there might be other similar icons on the screen. The one you want is the one associated with the specific email you opened.

When you click on the three horizontal dots icon, a drop-down menu will appear with many alternatives. From this menu, select “Download Message”.

If you wish to open the email immediately, select Open from the new pop-up window. However, if you want to save this email to your storage drive, you must first allow Save and then click OK.

Now you’ll notice the downloaded message is in email format. You might wonder how to open it later.  Fortunately, your computer will offer options to open the file. On Windows machines, a common option is the Outlook client. Mac users can utilize their default mail client.

Just note that you can’t do this on your mobile phone, you need to use your desktop email to be able to download the emails you need to keep. Unfortunately, we tried the Android version of Gmail and it didn’t work, the fact is that this feature is not available on the Android version. Therefore, you must use Gmail on your desktop to store any emails you want to keep.
